Nomis recognised his face and felt that he knew this tall newcomer very well indeed, although he couldn’t remember from where. He was sure that he had never consciously met him before. He was richly dressed as a Tylwyth Teg Knight, with a pale blue surcoat worn over a three-quarter-length golden mail shirt, which in turn was covering a full-length white linen tunic. About his shoulders, there was a mantle of white, trimmed with gold. Upon the fair hair of his head, there was a thin circlet of gold with a single pale sapphire-blue stone set above his forehead.
“Welcome Pelydryn, my old friend and guide. It is indeed a long time since last we met,” the Knight said.
Nomis caught his breath; the same ‘voice’ spoke as the one he had heard in his mind when they arrived in the garden.
“Welcome also to thee, young Nomis. It is many years since last I looked upon thy face and now I see that thou hast truly become a fine, strong fellow.” The look that followed was startling. There was mingled with it a very deep sense of fatherly love and overwhelming joy at the meeting. Without knowing quite why, Nomis stood up and reached out to embrace the strange, tall Knight.
Nomis jumped back in shock! “Are you really my father?”
“It would appear Aurwyn, that we have been caught out already! The Gallael is strong with the lad if he can pick up the telepathic messages directed at others.” Pelydryn seemed a little surprised, but pleased.
“Yes, Nomis, I am indeed thy father. It was twenty years ago since I was forced to leave without being able to say a last farewell to thee. It was truly one of the blackest hours of my life”, Aurwyn said sadly. “However, now that Pelydryn hath brought thee here, we shalt become better acquainted. Come, sit by my side that we may talk awhile.”
