“NOMIS, DRIMANA & GLUDOG”
Nomis walked back up to rejoin the main tunnel with a bemused, but delighted expression on his face. He had finally gained enough courage to touch a maid! Not only that, but he had received his first kiss from one! He wished Gludog was his roommate, and then he would have someone to tell all about it!
As he wandered happily homeward, in the gathering gloom, he wondered whether he was truly sleeping at the moment because so much of what had occurred recently had a dreamlike quality about it … his life felt so unreal. He pinched himself hard, but since he just ended up with a sore arm, he decided that he really must be awake. He wished today’s events had happened yesterday, and then he could have asked Pelydryn about everything.
A sudden new line of thinking struck him forcibly. … Had Pelydryn caused today’s incidents to happen in some mysterious way? There were rather too many coincidences happening in a short space of time to be completely random. He thought about the sequence of events in just the few hours since late last night. Had Master Hiral meant to fall in the moat so he would be forced to go on alone today? … If he had not been alone, he wouldn’t have had the good fortune to make friends with Gludog. … Or of returning along the inside of the curtain wall, and then receiving his first kiss from the attractive Drimana! These coincidences had definitely caused his life to suddenly move off in a different and unexpected direction. Perhaps he was ready for a change, he thought with less apprehension than before, as he hurried along in the evening light.
His thoughts turned homewards as he neared the end of the long, gently curving, grassy tunnel, seeing his own tower in the distance ahead.
